Project: Josef Albers’ Illusion of Translucency
Description: For this assignment, students use Color-aid paper to create an illusion of overlapping, translucent shapes. Through observing and applying appropriate color relationships, students create the illusion that the papers are not opaque but translucent.
Learning Outcomes: Distinguish the relative aspects of color perception and color effect as they apply to solving design problems. Understand and apply color theory vocabulary to effectively communicate ideas in color and justify color decisions. Exhibit knowledge of color dimension, including hue, value, and saturation.
